#3 - Conte Crayons and Carbon Pencils
Charcoal, conté crayon and carbon pencils all make dense black lines, have a wide tonal range and, on grey or tinted papers with the additional use of white chalk, reach a degree of richness no other drawing medium can give.
#4 Fixing Drawings
Conté crayons, carbon pencils, and especially charcoal and chalk pastels must all be fixed on the paper or they will smudge, both on the picture itself, and on anything it touches.
#5 Draw with Pen and Ink and Brush
You can draw with any kind of pen. Ball point, roller ball, felt tip, or even a Sharpie. And brushes are not just for painting!
